Goals and targets

Australia currently has a steel can recycling rate of 56%. The Steel Can Recycling Council is working towards increasing this to 65% in line with the National Packaging Covenant Steel Packaging target published in September 2005.

To meet this target, the Steel Can Recycling Council works with local, state and federal government, recycling contractors, can manufacturers, marketers, retailers, media and the general public to encourage more recycling and less cans to landfill.
